Preparing EACH Student for a Successful
and Meaningful Life
My CommitmentAs a Ray-Pec special education teacher, I am committed to providing students with individualized instruction and providing accommodations that teachers can use that takes in consideration the students disability when teaching in the general classroom. In general, the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed around the students' educational needs in the areas of Math, English Language Arts, and if necessary, Social and Behavioral needs. Each IEP is specific to each student and is aligned with Missouri Learning Standards (MLS). Although the IEP goals are my priority, I also am committed to working with teachers to make sure I touch on regular education concepts. |
What Your Child Experiences...In my classroom your child benefits from a low teacher-student ratio. There are less distractions and alternative ways of learning new material. Students are generally pulled from the general classroom after instruction has been given by the regular classroom teachers. They never miss special classes, recess, lunch, classroom events or assemblies. Typically, students enjoy coming to the resource room. Special education staff may pick them up from class or the classroom teacher will send them on their own. In my classroom they benefit from the low teacher-student ratio, reduced distractions, and alternative teaching/learning styles. Student support just doesn't happen in the resource room, paraprofessionals and I pop into the general classroom to continue support and help students generalize their skills. |
